Physicians conducted a study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of an Erbium glass laser with contact cooling in nonablative skin remodeling, focused on perioral and periorbital rhytides. Sixty patients received skin remodeling treatment four times over six-week intervals. Physicians evaluated patients using digital photographs, histology, ultrasound imaging, and profilometry with silicone imprints in order to quantify the degree of clinical improvement. The study demonstrated that nonablative skin remodeling with the Erbium glass laser safely leads to new collagen formation and other clinical improvements.
