Physicians investigated the risk of side effects according to the quality of cooling and number of pulses using an erbium-glass laser combined with contact cooling. Physicians performed a clinical evaluation on 10 patients using an erbium-glass laser with contact sapphire cooling. The study treated periorbital and perioral areas with a number of pulses increasing gradually from three to eight. The quality of contact cooling and number of pulses appear to be important parameters for safety and reproducible clinical results.
