Non-destructive, non-ablative laser devices treat photodamage with little to no healing time and few side effects, but these treatments may require multiple sessions and may not show results for weeks to months. Physicians conducted a study combining daily application of retinaldehyde in combination with non-ablative laser remodeling treatment to address the downsides of using laser treatment alone. Physicians used ultrasound imaging to assess the effectiveness of the combined treatment on patients' skin thickness. At the end of the treatment, physicians determined that skin thickness increased due to new collagen, indicating an evident advantage of using retinaldehyde in addition to non-ablative laser treatment.
