Photo Therapeutics has developed the Omnilux Blue LED system, a non-invasive method of treating mild and moderate acne. The Omnilux Blue light acne treatment delivers the correct wavelength, intensity and treatment time for optimum results in the PDT treatment of acne vulgaris. In addition to killing P. acnes through the singlet oxygen production process, the light stimulates cytokine mechanisms, leading to effective treatment. Physicians performed a split face study between blue light treatment only and blue and red light alternating treatment, concluding that the alternating treatment was more effective.
